Troisdorf (dpa / lnw) - A 55-year-old was blown in Troisdorf in the Rhein-Sieg district with an extensive collection of sharp weapons from the First and Second World Wars.

The man, who does not even have a gun license, had, among other things, hoarded semi and fully automatic rifles of the Wehrmacht, suitable ammunition and tank shells at home, as the police announced on Monday.

He kept the collection on an open shelf.

Police discovered the arsenal during a search of the apartment.

An acquaintance reportedly gave a tip as a witness.

The collector was cooperative with the police.

He handed the officers over all parts of his illegal collection, which he said was worth around 13,000 euros.

The 55-year-old must now prepare for criminal proceedings for violations of the Arms and War Weapons Control Act.
