China News Service, Washington, February 27 (Reporter Sha Hanting) The US House of Representatives voted to pass a US$1.9 trillion economic stimulus plan in the early morning of the 27th local time in response to the economic impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

On that day, the House of Representatives passed the plan with 219 votes in favor and 212 votes against.

Among them, all Republican congressmen voted against it, two Democrats voted against it, and the remaining Democrats voted for it.

Next, the Senate will vote on the plan.

The economic stimulus plan passed this time includes granting US$1,400 per person to eligible Americans; increasing weekly unemployment benefits to US$400; injecting US$20 billion into the new crown vaccination program; providing US$50 billion for the new crown Virus detection and tracing of infected persons; provide 350 billion US dollars for state and local governments; provide 170 billion US dollars for the reopening of schools, etc.

With regard to this aid plan, Democrats called it "timely and necessary help for American families and the economy."

Republican lawmakers think the plan is "too expensive" and "the focus is wrong", such as failing to provide enough aid to schools to start school immediately.

The economic stimulus plan passed this time also raised the statutory federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $15, but the proposal was opposed by Republicans and individual Democrats.

The Senate previously determined that raising the minimum wage does not comply with special budget rules.

Therefore, the Senate is expected to delete this content in the discussion of the economic stimulus plan.

It is reported that the Senate will discuss and vote on the economic stimulus plan next week.

The revised version of the Senate will be sent back to the House of Representatives for voting and passed to President Biden for signature.
