Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The seven-day incidence of new corona infections is again showing a slight increase in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) registered 64.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days on Sunday morning - after this value had been 61 a week earlier.

For Saturday (February 27th) the RKI had shown an increased incidence of 64.8.

Within one day, the health authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia reported 1,641 new infections by Sunday.

The number of deaths rose by 16 to 13,044. On Sunday, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, partly because not all municipalities report the number of cases at the weekend.

If the value was below 35, politicians had promised to ease the previous restrictions.

According to the RKI, only Münster (25.7) and the Coesfeld district (30.8) were below the incidence value of 35 on Sunday.

The highest values were recorded in Solingen (127.5), the Märkische Kreis (126), the Düren district (102.8), Hamm (101.2) and Hagen (100.2).

A value of 70.7 was reported for Cologne, the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia, 51.8 for the state capital Düsseldorf and 62.6 for Dortmund.
