Dortmund (dpa) - According to matching media reports, Sebastian Kehl will succeed Michael Zorc as sports director at Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.

As the “Kicker” and the “Bild” report on Sunday evening, the former professional and the top club around club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke agreed on a further collaboration with a handshake during the week.

The personality had emerged in the past few weeks, but according to the Bundesliga club, the contract has not yet been signed.

Kehl ended his professional career in 2015 and three years later took over the newly created position as head of the licensed players department at BVB.

Originally, Zorc wanted to vacate his post on June 30, 2021 after 23 years as BVB sports director.

But at Watzke's request, he will remain in office for one season longer in view of the great challenges that have arisen in the corona pandemic.
