Forty deputies published a forum on Sunday to request the reopening of restaurants at noon.

But for Parisian chef François Gagnaire, this is a bad idea.

Because a partial opening would not allow the costs to be amortized and state aid would then be suspended.

INTERVIEW

Forty deputies from all political stripes asked Prime Minister Jean Castex on Sunday to study the reopening of restaurants at noon from March 30.

The idea would be to allow those who do not have a company canteen to benefit from a place and a reasonable suitable time for the lunch break, "with adequate sanitary procedures", specify the deputies in the column published in the Journal du dimanche.

"There will be a lot of breakage"

But for restaurateurs, opening only for lunch is not necessarily profitable.

"It's a false good idea," said François Gagnaire, chef of Anicia Bistro in Paris.

"We are all impatient to open and our teams too. We really want to find our customers and relight the stoves. But, for my personal case, I make two-thirds of my turnover in the evening. that at noon, with in addition an applied distancing, it is not worth it ", he blurted out.

Especially if we are cut off from food, if there is no more aid and subsidies.

There, there will be a lot of breakage in restaurants, "he developed Sunday evening on Europe 1.

MEPs have mainly addressed the health aspect of the proposal.

"In the streets of cities, at noon, for people who work, the situation is often grotesque because we observe that people eat in front of restaurants, thus standing close to each other," argued Eric Coquerel.

"Let us have a little trust in people to take responsibility in order to restart the activity of restaurant owners. Most restaurants had already done so, so it is possible to find a compromise of this type," he continued.

Since October 30, bars, cafes and restaurants have been closed in France.

For the moment, only a residual take-out activity is allowed.
