The Canadian embassy on site was appalled at the increasing violence against “unarmed” demonstrators.

In a message from the embassy on Facebook, we remembered the dead and injured who campaigned for “a peaceful return to a democratic government in Myanmar”.

On February 1, the military in Myanmar had put up against Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi.

The 75-year-old won the parliamentary elections in November by a clear margin.

Since the coup, there have been repeated mass protests in Myanmar.

The demonstrators are demanding the release of the appointed head of government and the reinstatement of her civilian government.
