The Liberal Democratic Party has instructed its members to listen to and report their requests and policy recommendations using telephone, email, and postcards, as members of the Diet are less likely to interact with voters due to the effects of the new coronavirus. However, I would like to reflect it in the government promises of the next House of Representatives election.

As the effects of the new coronavirus continue to prolong, parliamentarians have fewer opportunities to interact with voters, so the challenge for each party is how to listen to local needs.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has instructed all members of the Diet to use telephone calls, e-mails, and round-trip postcards to listen to local requests and policy recommendations regarding measures against the new coronavirus and economic recovery.

The party will cover the cost of 1,000 round-trip postcards per member of the Diet, and is requesting that the report be made within 200 characters by the middle of next month.

The Liberal Democratic Party wants to reflect the gathered requests and recommendations in concrete policy making and in the administration promise of the next House of Representatives election.

Mr. Shimomura, the chairman of the political affairs investigation, said, "Even though the face-to-face method is difficult due to the corona virus, we would like to promote efforts for members of the Diet to listen to the voices of the people."
