Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) is not yet assuming broad effectiveness two months after the start of vaccinations.

"Until we were able to make a vaccination offer to such a large population that it now really has a wider epidemiological impact, it just takes a while," said Nonnemacher of the German press agency.

"Of course we have to get there."

Above all, she relies on avoiding contact.

A very serious minimization of contact is necessary for successful containment.

"That has not always succeeded to the extent hoped for in recent months."

After delays in the delivery of vaccine doses, vaccinations are now set to pick up speed.

About a year ago - on March 2, 2020 - the first corona infection in Brandenburg was officially confirmed.

A 51-year-old from the Oberhavel district had returned from a trip to South Tyrol and was infected with the virus.

The lockdown is still in effect, but on Monday (March 1st) at least the hairdressing salons and garden centers will open again.

On March 3, the federal and state governments will discuss a uniform strategy for possible openings.
