Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The state of Hesse wants to continue helping sports clubs to alleviate the financial consequences of the corona pandemic.

The Minister of the Interior and for Sport, Peter Beuth (CDU) announced on Sunday.

According to the information, the state has supported 296 clubs with a total of 1.35 million euros since the current funding program was launched.

The organizations would suffer from the fact that sport cannot be practiced or only to a limited extent.

"So far, at least in financial terms, you have mostly got through the Corona crisis well," Beuth is quoted in a message.

In Hesse, around 2.1 million members are organized in more than 7500 clubs of the state sports federation.

According to the ministry, around four percent of these sports clubs got into financial difficulties due to the pandemic, for example because events were canceled.

You would have received financial support.

Overall, the Hessian state government supported organized sport last year - independently of other Corona aid programs - with around 59 million euros.

It is assumed that the pandemic will continue to have negative financial consequences for clubs.

Therefore, the state will support associations with money from the Corona association aid program in 2021.

This should ensure that clubs can continue to offer their services in the usual way after the pandemic.
