Leverkusen (AP) - U21 national goalkeeper Lennart Grill makes his debut in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

The 22-year-old replaces Niklas Lomb in Bayer Leverkusen's goal in the league game against SC Freiburg.

The five-year-old Lomb had recently replaced the injured substitute goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, but seriously blundered both in the last league game in Augsburg (1: 1) and in the Europa League out against Young Boys Bern (0: 2).

The grill, which came from third division Kaiserslautern for two million euros in the summer, had major teething problems in Leverkusen and was actually only number three.

Coach Peter Bosz justified the change in goal with a certain protection for Lomb.

"I think the pressure was very, very great," said the Dutchman before the game on Sky TV.

Lomb is a good goalkeeper and a good person and also does very well in training.

“But when you've made these mistakes in a few games, especially from outside, the pressure becomes so great.

And in addition: Of course we have a goalkeeper who is the goalkeeper for the U21s in Germany and he can show it today, ”said Bosz.

Bosz also made four changes among the field players compared to the Bern game.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Wendell, Nadiem Amiri and Demarai Gray replace Aleksandar Dragovic, Daley Sinkgraven, Jeremie Frimpong and the yellow-banned Moussa Diaby.

Freiburg coach Christian Streich made three changes compared to the 0-1 home defeat against 1. FC Union Berlin.

Instead of Manuel Gulde, Nils Petersen and Janik Haberer, Lukas Kübler, Dominique Heintz and Ermedin Demirovic begin.
