Hanover (dpa / lni) - Before the federal-state consultations on the corona situation on Wednesday, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) demanded that special rights after a corona self-test only be allowed if it was monitored by trained staff.

"In order for tests to enable access to facilities and offers in the future, they must be supervised and confirmed by third parties," said Weil of "Welt am Sonntag".

"Negative test results would have to be certified, first in an email or on paper, then hopefully later in an app, preferably in the Corona Warning app."

Such tests would have to be done under supervision or guidance to prevent errors in use.

The federal and state governments want to discuss on March 3rd how quickly quick tests from trained hands could come as a free offer for everyone.

Charged quick tests by trained staff could currently be done in test centers, for example, if you need confirmed proof of results, for example when traveling or visiting a nursing home.

These rapid tests involve a swab with a long stick placed deep in the nose or throat.

According to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, the first approvals for corona tests for self-use by laypeople have also been available for a few days.

The samples are taken through a swab in the front of the nose.
