It has been observed that Germany may sooner or later grant the AstraZeneca Corona 19 vaccination to people over 65.

According to the UK Guardian on the 27th of the local time, Thomas Mertens, chairman of the immunization committee at the German Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said on the ZDF broadcast the previous day, "We are going to make an updated new recommendation," saying on ZDF broadcasting that the elderly can get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

He said he was waiting for more information on a study by researchers at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, showing that the risk of hospitalization was reduced by around 90% after four weeks of AstraZeneca vaccination.

The German Vaccination Commission previously recommended that the vaccine be administered only to the ages of 18-64, due to the lack of data from clinical trials over 65.

In addition to Germany, France, Belgium, and Sweden limit AstraZeneca vaccination targets to those under the age of 65 for the same reason.

According to the Guardian, Germany has only given about 360,000 doses, about a quarter of the 1.4 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine currently supplied.
