Italy's Federica Brignone won her first race this season with the World Cup super-G in Val di Fassa (Italy) on Sunday, where she edged Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami, who had won Friday and Saturday in the downhill.

The overall title holder beat Lara Gut-Behrami (59/100) and another Swiss, Corinne Suter (72/100).

Gut-Behrami, the most fit skier at the moment, takes the opportunity to win the small globe of the specialty, her 3rd, while there is still a super-G to play this winter.

She also took off in the general classification, benefiting from a poor performance by Slovakian Petra Vlhova, whom she is now more than 180 points ahead of eight races to go to the end of the season.

The race was marked by two long interruptions for heavy crashes from the Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and the Austrian Rosina Schneeberger.

Tessa Worley finished 9th at 1 sec 49 and Tiffany Gauthier 16th at 1 sec 77.
