Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Berlin police want to accompany and protect an expert who is supposed to examine the controversial house in Rigaer Straße 94 for defects in fire protection.

A corresponding request will be complied with, said a police spokesman on Sunday.

The partially occupied house in Friedrichshain is one of the last symbols of the left-wing extremist scene in the capital.

According to information from Rbb and "Berliner Morgenpost", the expert commissioned by the owner is to examine the house on March 11 and 12.

The owner, interior administration and police have agreed on this.

The police did not comment on the appointment on Sunday.

After court rulings in favor of the owner, his lawyer Alexander von Aretin announced that a fire protection expert and a representative of the owner under police protection should examine the house, which has so far been barricaded, in detail.

The police could face another major operation.

There were repeated outbreaks of violence and attacks on police officers on Rigaer Strasse.

Members of the left-wing radical scene had already announced resistance to the court rulings in mid-February.

There is only one answer, "resistance on the street," it said on the Internet.

According to the owner's lawyer, the appraiser should examine the building with the front building, side wing and rear building for possible fire hazards.

It is about possible illegal wall breakthroughs, trap doors, incorrectly laid electrical cables, security gates and fire accelerators.

The administrative court had ordered the police to protect the expert when entering the house.

A property manager and a lawyer were attacked there in the past.

The Senate and police had not intervened for a long time, arguing that suspicious residents could not be identified and that the homeowner was unknown.

The assessment was rejected by the court.

According to Rbb and "Morgenpost", the fire protection deficiencies have been known to the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office since 2016, but they did not press for a comprehensive assessment for a long time.
