The final of the Open Sud de France, in Montpellier, will oppose Sunday the two best players entered, the Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Agut, 13th player in the world, and the Belgian David Goffin, 15th in the last ATP ranking.

The seeds N.1 and N.2 had varying fortunes on Saturday in the semi-finals.

The 32-year-old Spaniard did quite well in his match against the German Peter Gojowczyk, in straight sets (7-5, 6-1) and an hour and fifteen minutes of play.

He will try Sunday to win his 10th title on the ATP circuit.

His last trophy dates back to the Doha tournament in 2019, the year he reached 9th place in the world rankings.

Goffin, 30, had more trouble getting rid of Belarusian Egor Gerasimov (83rd).

He needed three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) because after winning the first by making the break from the start the Belgian found himself led 3 games to 0 and did not managed to get back to score.

The two fought hard in a very close start to the third set.

"In the third, I said to myself: I'm in the semi-final, I just have to use my serve and I'll end up having an opportunity. I had one," said the player on BeIn Sport .

With three games all over, Goffin managed to make the break, then he continued to focus on his serve.

He will play his first final of the year on Sunday.

The Belgian hasn't played a final on the ATP circuit since the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati in 2019. He has already won four titles in his career, including two in 2014 (Metz and Kitzbuhel) and two in 2017 (Tokyo and Shenzhen) , the year he reached 7th place in the ATP ranking.
