During Saturday, the rescue service received several alarms after passers-by heard cries for help from the ice at Ekolsundsviken in Enköping.

A large rescue operation is in place with police patrols, helicopters, the rescue service and divers.

- Several patrols are ordered to the place where it turns out that there are several people who have gone through the ice and ended up in the water, says Tommy Wållberg, commanding officer at Räddningscentral Mitt.

The search is still ongoing

Three people have been rescued from the water but the damage situation is still unclear.

The search for more people who have passed through the ice is in full swing.

- We fear that there are more people in the water.

We have seen several open fields that may indicate that there are more in the water and therefore we are looking further, says Tommy Wållberg, commanding officer at the rescue center Mitt.

The rescue operation is estimated to last at least another hour.
