Cologne (dpa / lnw) - With the vaccinations in the old people's and nursing homes in North Rhine-Westphalia, the number of corona infections among seniors living there has fallen significantly, according to a report.

The number of infected people fell from 5265 cases on December 23 to 1488 at the beginning of February, reported the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" (Saturday edition), citing a survey by the NRW Ministry of Health.

Currently, fewer than 1000 seniors are infected in the homes.

The vaccinations in NRW had started in the old people's and nursing homes.

The first seniors had received the vaccine there at the end of December.
