They come from early morning hours to the Palestinian Affairs Department in Jerash camp, sitting at the doors and in the halls, waiting for food parcels to feed their children, blankets to cover in the winter, and a coupon that provides them with a gallon of kerosene or a canister of gas for heating and cooking.

With his worn mask, the Palestinian refugee Nimer Abu Saleh, 66, is waiting for his food parcel, as he supports a family of 10, his wife and only son are suffering from chronic diseases, and they are waiting for the aid and heating vouchers he brings to them, in a dilapidated house covered with tin.

Abu Saleh says - to Al-Jazeera Net- "I go around the farms adjacent to the camp looking for work to secure a package of medicine for my wife, or an analgesic needle to treat my son." Unfortunately, I have become unable to provide for my wife and son's monthly medical expenses, because I have no work to work with. "

Snow and Zenko

What exacerbated the suffering of the Abu Saleh family was that a few days ago, the roof of the metal house (Zinco) was hit on them as a result of the accumulation of snow. The snow that brought joy to the Jordanians, brought grief and pain to the needy and increased their suffering, according to the hadith of Abu Saleh’s wife.

And live in Jerash camp, known as the Gaza camp in northern Jordan, about 30 thousand Palestinian refugees - according to UNRWA figures - the vast majority of them do not have Jordanian nationality, like the rest of the Palestinian refugees in Jordan.

They are treated like foreigners, which deprives them of treatment in government hospitals, education for their children, and work in many public and private sectors, and this raises the unemployment rates among young men and girls to more than 80%, while the Jordanian government granted them the right to own a plot of land, licenses to drive cars, and some Privileges to facilitate their life.

Children and parcels

The needy families of Jordanians, Palestinian and Syrian refugees share the suffering of poverty and destitution, and during their sessions awaiting aid, they share the concerns and sufferings of the winter season, exchanging phone numbers for charities that provide aid, and medical clinics that provide free treatment to the poor.

In the house of the forty-year-old Palestinian refugee Hassan Al-Khatib, the children eagerly grabbed the food parcels.

Al-Khatib said to Al-Jazeera Net, "I provide for 8 individuals who are all young and need everything. I used to work in plumbing and house maintenance, but I lost my eyesight due to an accident, so it stopped me from work and waited for aid."

His wife, Sawsan Mustafa, 42, complains of the winter cold and the illness of her children because of it.

She tells Al-Jazeera Net, "We wait for kerosene and gas coupons before the food parcels, because the bitter cold brings diseases, and we can only face it with heating, and if the fuel runs out, we light some firewood and wood."

Al-Khatib is surrounded by Syrian refugee families, who lived in the camp for years due to the cheap rental of housing there.

Umm Salah al-Homsi, the septuagenarian, told Al-Jazeera Net, "We share with the camp residents the concerns of asylum, and despite the poverty and need we suffer, we exchange food and sweets between each other."
