Washington (AP) - Former US President Donald Trump will appear in public on Sunday (21.40 CET) for the first time since leaving the White House with a speech.

The Republican is scheduled to speak at the annual CPAC conference, an event organized by conservative activists, in Orlando, Florida.

Fox News - which is one of the CPAC sponsors - reported that Trump would sharply criticize the policies of his Democratic successor Joe Biden.

It is expected that Trump will mention a possible candidacy in the 2024 presidential election in his address, but not formally announce it.

Daughter-in-law Lara Trump had recently fueled speculation that Donald Trump could run for the Republican presidential candidacy for the 2024 election.

"He has indicated that he would probably be interested in running again in 2024," Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, told Fox News last weekend.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz told CPAC on Friday that there were a number of politicians in Washington who wanted Trump to disappear from the scene.

"Let me tell you this now, Donald J. Trump is not going anywhere."

Since Trump was voted out of office, the Republican Party has divided a political dispute that Trump is actively fueling.

Most recently, the 74-year-old attacked the top Republican in the US Senate, his former ally Mitch McConnell.

Trump has lived in Florida since leaving office on January 20.

Things have become relatively quiet around the ex-president since he left the White House, which is also due to the fact that the short message service Twitter has permanently banned him.
