Hanover (dpa / lni) - With an unusual fashion show, fashion design students from the University of Hanover drew attention to the climate crisis.

13 nurtured old sweaters were presented at the town hall on Saturday.

Put on a thick sweater and turn the heating down a degree - this climate protection campaign from Belgium inspired the special collection.

"In a short-term design, we designed thick sweaters based on the motto: heating off, sweater on," said Professor Martina Glomb.

It should be an action for the problems “we have with the climate, environmental pollution and waste of resources”.

They want to motivate people to knit themselves or to refine old sweaters and turn down the heating a little.

The students should deal with the issues of climate protection and sustainability in a creative way.

Melting glaciers or the littering of the oceans became motifs for tops.

But they also used traditional methods and natural materials.

The campaign marks the end of the photo competition “Hanover is looking for its favorite winter outfit” for “Big Sweater Day” on February 7th, which promotes more climate protection and energy savings in private households.
