▲ Lake in Rocky Folk Park, Ohio, USA

In the United States, a teenage girl died after saving her younger brother drowned in ice water, and the police who saved the girl died again.

According to ABC broadcasts on the 27th, around the evening of the 23rd, a 16-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy brother and sister were playing near a lake dock in Rocky Pork State Park in Hillsboro, Ohio, and the ice broke and fell into the water.

The younger brother came out of the water with the help of his sister and saved his life, but the older sister was sucked under the ice while saving the younger brother and could not come out.

While trying to find her sister, the younger brother asked for help from a nearby construction contractor to save her sister, and the builder reported it to the fire department.

The police and firefighters who were dispatched after receiving the report immediately mobilized divers to search the girl, but it wasn't until about 11 pm, five hours after the accident, that the girl could be rescued in cold ice water.

The girl was taken to the hospital unconscious and was eventually found dead.

The boy is now stable.

The fire department believes that the older sister saved her younger brother, but he did not come out.

At that time, the temperature of the lake was about 2 degrees, which was much lower than that of Jeonju, but it was still cold.

Jason Lagoer, a police officer with 15 years of experience, who was put on the scene, was also drowned and died in the process of rescuing the girl under the ice.

The coroner says initial investigations suggest that Lagoer had a heart attack.

"My dear colleague died on the job last night. I express my deepest condolences for feeling heavy responsibility for the family," said the Ohio Department of Natural Resources police chief.

Lagoer has a wife and two young sons.

The police said that the ice is melting as the Arctic cold wave that has hit the United States has subsided, and told them not to climb on top of the ice.

Local media reported the incident as'two tragedies'.
