A week after his world championship title, Frenchman Mathieu Faivre took second place behind World Cup giant Bansko (Bulgaria) on Saturday, 40/100 behind Croatian Filip Zubcic.
Austrian Stefan Brennsteiner is third at 93/100.
Alexis Pinturault lost a stick at the start of the second round but managed to grab fourth place at 1 sec 06, ahead of the Swiss Marco Odermatt (fifth at 1 sec 52) who lost a little ground on the French in the general classification.
Thibaut Favrot signed his best result on a World Cup giant with seventh place (at 1 sec 77).
The skiers follow on Sunday with a second giant in the Bulgarian resort.
