5 women were killed in an explosion in Syria

Today, Saturday, a Syrian security source said that five civilians were killed and 13 others were injured by a mine explosion in the eastern Hama countryside.

A medical source in the city of Salamiyah told the German news agency (DPA) that the dead were five women, indicating that the number of deaths is expected to rise due to the condition of some of the critical injured.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted a source in the Hama Police Command as saying that a mine of terrorist remnants exploded in a car carrying a number of people while collecting truffles east of Salamiyah in the eastern Hama countryside, which led to the deaths and injuries.

During the past years, the areas of the northeastern countryside of Salamiyah, adjacent to the administrative border with Raqqa Governorate, have witnessed violent battles between government forces and ISIS militants.

Dozens of people, men and women, have been killed while they are searching for truffles in the countryside of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor over the past years, and the Syrian government accuses ISIS militants of being behind their killing.
