Rostock (dpa / mv) - The number of registered new corona cases in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has increased again compared to the previous week.

On Saturday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) reported 175 new cases of infection.

That was 36 more than on the same day the previous week.

The trend, which has recently increased slightly, has thus continued.

The seven-day incidence increased by 4.1 points compared to the previous day to 65.1 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

The total number of proven corona infections in the country is now 24,488. Around 21,400 people are considered to have recovered.

The number of deaths in connection with Covid-19 increased by 3 compared to the previous day to 739. 257 Covid-19 patients were treated in the hospitals, 38 of them in intensive care units.

In the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, the seven-day incidence was still the highest nationwide at 117.6.

After declines in the previous days, the value rose again there for the first time.

More infected people were also found in the neighboring district of Western Pomerania-Rügen than on the previous days, but the incidence there is still the lowest at 21.8.

The Hanseatic city of Rostock, at 29.6, also remained well below the threshold value of 35, which is important for easing. Only the Mecklenburg Lake District and the state capital Schwerin recorded a decline in the seven-day incidence.

The third lowest incidence value was registered there with 52.3 in each case.
