Erftstadt (dpa / lnw) - A wrong-way driver caused an accident with four vehicles when turning his van on Autobahn 1 in the Rhein-Erft district.
A person was seriously injured, said a spokesman for the Cologne police on Friday.
But there is no mortal danger.
According to initial findings, the driver of the van drove in the wrong lane towards Dortmund at a rest stop on Thursday evening.
When he tried to turn back, he collided with a car.
A mobile home then crashed into the scene of the accident and another car got onto the grass verge while evading.
The driver's license of the wrong-way driver was secured, according to the police.
The investigation has started.
