The journalist was killed at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on October 2, 2018.

Later, the Saudi authorities said that he was killed in the diplomatic mission building as a result of the conflict.

On September 7, a court in Saudi Arabia sentenced those accused of the murder of Khashukji.

Turkey said that the verdict did not meet Ankara's expectations.
