The Syrian government publicly condemned the US air strikes in eastern Syria on the 26th.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the US airstrike on the border between Syria and Iraq in the eastern Syrian province of Deir al-Zour on the evening of the 25th not only violated international law and the UN Charter, but also sent a negative signal from the new US government in terms of policy.

The statement also warned that the US move will lead to an escalation of the regional situation.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the US government to change its aggressive style and stop providing support to various forms of terrorist organizations.

In its statement, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again requested the UN Security Council to perform its duty of maintaining international peace and security and prevent the United States, Israel, Turkey and other countries from continuing to undermine Syria’s sovereign independence and territorial integrity.

The U.S. Department of Defense issued a statement on the 25th that the U.S. military launched air strikes against Iran-backed militia targets in eastern Syria and destroyed many facilities earlier in the day.
