February 26, 2021 The former Mibact becomes Mic, Ministry of Culture, that of Porta Pia becomes 'of sustainable infrastructures and mobility' and the newborn Ecological Transition department is renamed 'Mite'.

"I want to emphasize the new acronym - says Roberto Cingolani - Meekness is the lost virtue that must be recovered and which indicates the way in which we intend to operate: focus on the strength of the arguments and awareness of the environmental and social challenge, confronting with great openness, having future generations at heart ".

The names change but also the pace of the government that with the leadership of Draghi pushes its foot on the accelerator of the green economy, at the center of the Recovery fund.

The meeting of the CDM formalizes, with an ad hoc decree law, the reorganization of the ministries at the time of the Draghi government, with tourism again unpacked from cultural heritage - and equipped with a portfolio - and the ad hoc structure for the digital transition that with the Mite will join the Interministerial Committee for the digital transition, with the task of ensuring the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the technological innovation and digital transition initiatives of the various competent public administrations.

The most important novelty is obviously the new department, whose announcement was entrusted to the WWF during the consultations, which brings together some competences of the Environment but above all of Economic Development, with the transfer from the latter of human, instrumental and financial resources on the subject. of energy, as well as the supervision of GSE, the manager of energy services, and the package of incentives for renewables.

It will therefore be up to the Mite to define the country's energy policy.

"The path of construction that sees the entire government committed to the realization of this new vision is starting," says Cingolani.

"It is an imposing challenge, and the whole government is committed to working to carry it out. We have little time ahead of us to overcome it, the scientific data on climate change tell us", he adds.
