Sandvik is Sweden's second largest industrial area and currently about 3,000 people work on site in Sandviken.

In order to be able to stop the infection, the company requires those who can work from home to do so.

But when covid-19 is once again spreading faster in society - and also at Sandvik - new initiatives will be launched starting next week.

- We are activating further measures such as voluntary rapid tests and access to mouth guards, says Ulrika Porath, press officer at Sandvik SMT.

Has closed premises

Since March last year, staff who have been able to work from home and the company have closed premises and extended cleaning.

The new measures will above all protect those who have to go to the industrial area in Sandviken to perform their jobs.

The guidelines from before are to try to stick to their part of the area and meet as few as possible.

But for maintenance personnel who move in large parts of the area, it becomes more difficult and it is therefore a priority.

- It is important that they have the opportunity to test themselves quickly, says Ulrika Porath who is satisfied with how the company has handled the pandemic so far:

- It has worked very well, but that does not mean that we are not affected.

We are a large company, we are affected like the rest of society, she says.
