- It is with great sadness that we state that we are forced to cancel the 2021 tournament as well, and the decision naturally has major financial consequences for the association and must be handled, says Thomas Högström, chairman of VästeråsIrsta HF.
The big tournament canceled two years in a row
Irstablixten is one of Sweden's largest handball tournaments and annually attracts thousands of young people to Västerås.
But due to the pandemic, the tournament was canceled in 2020, and now the decision has been made to cancel the 2021 edition, which was supposed to be played in April.
- Unfortunately, the circumstances put a stop to the tournament again this year. The infection situation and the restrictions that are make it impossible for us to safely implement IrstaBlixten. This is out of consideration for the safety of our guests or members, says Thomas Högström.
