The air temperature in Moscow on Friday broke an all-time record for February 26.

This information RT was confirmed by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand, specifying that the value at the meteorological station rose to +6.4 ° C and the snow began to melt intensively in the city.

According to the portal "Meteonosti", the previous record was recorded in 1990 and was +6 ° С.

Wilfand recalled that a significant temperature drop was registered in the city: the night of February 23 became the coldest since the beginning of winter, the thermometer dropped to -24.5 ° С, and the night of February 26, on the contrary, turned out to be the warmest, by the morning the weather station on VDNKh recorded heat above 4 ° C.

“On Saturday, the temperature will drop slightly.

Nighttime and daytime temperatures will hover around zero.

From -1 ° С to +1 ° С in Moscow, in the region -2 ... + 3 ° С.

An increase in wind up to 15 m / s is also expected.

At this temperature, the melted snow will freeze and thaw.

And there will be very strong ice, ”he said.

On Sunday, according to the forecaster, the situation will become more complicated.

At night -5 ...- 7 ° С is expected, in connection with which the ice will be even more noticeable.

On Sunday afternoon, about + 0 ° С is expected, significant precipitation, except for a little snow, is not expected.

“But on the first of March the sun will often peep out, and precipitation is not expected.

The temperature at night will drop to -5 ...- 10 ° С, in the region to -15 ° С.

Well, during the day, the temperature will inevitably rise to +1 ... + 3 ° С.

The next two days will be moderately warm.

At night from -2 ° C to +2 ° C, and in the daytime from +0 ° C to +5 ° C, ”explained Vilfand.

According to him, a drop in temperature is expected at the very end of the working week, but it is too early to say how intense it will be.

In turn, the leading employee of the Phobos weather center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, said in his Instagram that due to warming by February 28, the height of snowdrifts in the capital will decrease by another 10 centimeters.

“The uniqueness lies in the fact that this kind of powerful invasion of Atlantic heat at the end of February, on average, happens once every quarter of a century.

Thermometer readings have already taken the third line of the podium, ”he said.

At the same time, according to him, on February 27, the air temperature will drop slightly below zero, snow and ice are possible.

Earlier, an employee of Phobos, Mikhail Leus, also reported that significant fluctuations in atmospheric pressure would be observed in the capital region by the end of February.

According to him, the pressure gradually increased for several days.

On February 23, it reached its maximum value - 768 mm Hg.

Art.

“Then it will start to fall and will drop to its minimum on Friday, when it will be 739 mm Hg.

Art.

Then it will start to gradually increase again and by March 1 will reach 755 mm Hg.

Art. ", - quotes the words of Leus RIA Novosti.

The coming of spring

Speaking about the timing of the onset of spring in the capital, Roman Vilfand urged "not to associate the calendar spring with accounting."

“Spring does not come according to the calendar.

In the temperate latitudes of the northern hemisphere, where we live, spring comes much later.

The natural synoptic spring season begins somewhere in the third decade of March.

What can spring be associated with?

With the arrival of rooks?

They arrive in the third decade of March.

When is the vernal equinox observed?

March 22-23.

When, for example, does the snow cover melt in Moscow?

In the first decade of April, even at the end of the first decade.

This is not a forecast, I am talking about climatic characteristics, ”said the specialist.

The day before, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Moscow meteorological office, noted that the above zero temperature has been in Moscow since noon, but it is too early to talk about spring.

“This is just a thaw.

The beginning of spring should be considered the period when the average daily air temperature steadily becomes positive, not for 1-2 days.

On average, this happens in the last five days of March, while we are still waiting, ”she explained.

Recall that over the past few weeks in a number of regions of Russia, including Moscow, there were heavy snowfalls, which led to difficulties in the operation of transport, power outages and other disruptions in the operation of infrastructure.

So, in the middle of the month, residents of Moscow faced a heavy snowfall that lasted for two days.
