Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the number of new corona infections remains consistently high.

The seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, was 92.54 on Friday, as the Ministry of Social Affairs in Magdeburg announced.

It was around 90 for the tenth day in a row. From Thursday to Friday, 375 new cases of infection were reported and 24 deaths related to the coronavirus.

So so far 2,435 people have died in the country with or from Sars-CoV-2.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Saxony-Anhalt is still the region with the highest number of infections nationwide, alongside the neighboring state of Thuringia.

The RKI gave the national average on Friday with 62.6 after 61.7 on Thursday.

A total of 60 393 corona cases have been recorded in Saxony-Anhalt since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 86 intensive care and ventilation beds are occupied with Covid 19 patients;

57 of these patients are artificially ventilated.

Since the vaccination started, 91 857 people across the country have received the first injection, and 51 316 the second.

According to the ministry, there were 2853 first vaccinations on Thursday.

The rate for first vaccinations is around 4 percent across the country, and that for second vaccinations is around 2.3 percent.
