For the time being, neither the lawyers nor the relatives of Alexey Navalny know where the Russian opponent is.

This Friday, February 26, the Russian prison authorities confirmed that the opponent had left the Moscow prison where he was, but without specifying in which penal colony he would be transferred.

In Russia, prison sentences are carried out either in detention centers located near cities, or in camps inherited from the Soviet era.

Colonies very often located in remote areas, which makes contact with the outside world more difficult.

According to the head of the Russian penitentiary authority, Alexeï Navalny will serve his sentence under "

normal conditions

" and he will be able "

if he wishes to take part in production activities

".

Quoted by the Russian press agencies, Alexander Kalashnikov finally assures that no threat weighs "

on the life or on the health

" of the opponent.

This clarification is addressed to all those who are worried about the life of Alexeï Navalny.

Last week, the European Court of Human Rights called for the “immediate” release of the opponent on the grounds that his life could be endangered as a result of his imprisonment.
