On suspicion of large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering, the police in Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Hesse carried out a large-scale raid against a neo-Nazi network.

The police searched 27 residential and business premises in Thuringia alone, said the Thuringia State Criminal Police Office (TLKA).

More than 500 police forces, including special forces, were involved in the searches in the early hours of the morning.

According to the police, eight suspects between the ages of 24 and 55 were to be arrested as part of the operation.

The aim of the mission is to find evidence such as vehicles or high-quality objects that could be related to drug trafficking and the alleged money laundering.

According to a report by the MDR, the suspects are said to be members of two neo-Nazi brotherhoods.

They are said to have been criminals for years and organize large parts of the drug trade in Thuringia.

According to the report, weapons deals are also supposed to come.

The trigger for the investigation against the neo-Nazi network is said to have been a wiretapping operation by the Thuringian Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

The two neo-Nazi brotherhoods are said to be organized in a similar way to criminal rocker gangs, with a strict hierarchy and certain symbols.

They are said to have emerged from various predecessor groups and were founded in 2015.
