Berlin (dpa) - On September 11th, a parade for Christopher Street Day is to go through Berlin.

Last year, due to the corona pandemic, there was only one online edition and small demos.

This time it should be another big queer event with a final rally at the Brandenburg Gate.

If the parade was not to be held responsible because of the increasing incidence, the CSD was quickly canceled, the organizer announced on Friday.

The "Victory Column" and the "Tagesspiegel" reported on the plans.

The Berlin Parade is being organized by the new “Action Group LGBTIQ *”.

According to the announcement, this does not see itself as competition to existing clubs, but wishes to work together.

The CSD is supposed to remind of the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, intersexual and queer people, traditionally it is also a big street party.

The name comes from 1969: at the end of June, police officers stormed the “Stonewall Inn” bar on Christopher Street in New York and sparked an uprising against the arbitrariness of gays, lesbians and transsexuals.
