Neubrandenburg / Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In order to secure more young talent, companies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are now breaking new ground.

After the trainee ticket that has just been introduced, the trainee card will come in March, as Torsten Haasch said on Friday, as the general manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Neubrandenburg.

Up to 11,000 apprentices in the country can take advantage of various shopping and leisure discounts at companies.

"The trainee card is another facet that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the northeast is creating to increase the attractiveness of dual vocational training," explained Haasch.

As examples, he cited providers of office supplies for teaching, canoe rentals and adventure parks.

Other companies are welcome to take part in the project.

The trainee card must be shown with the identity card.

The search for suitable young people in order to have skilled workers in the future is one of the main concerns of all companies in the northeast.

With the trainee ticket, which costs 365 euros, trainees have been able to travel on all public transport trains, buses and ferries in the northeast since February 1st.

The Neubrandenburg Chamber represents around 25,000 companies in eastern Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania, including the island of Usedom.
