It has been several months since all travel restrictions linked to the
Covid-19 epidemic
had been lifted on Indian territory.
But it is more complicated to travel in the country since this Friday, February 26.
The states of Delhi, Karnataka, Bengal and Kashmir now require recent RT-PCR tests to enter their territory.
These measures only target travelers from certain states, in particular Kerala and Mahrastrah, whether by plane, train, or road.
Kerala and Maharashtra particularly affected
Falling back to around 10,000 on average against 100,000 at least in August, the number of new daily cases in India exceeded 16,000 on Wednesday 24. The increase is particularly concentrated in Kerala and Maharashtra.
They weigh only 10% of the Indian population, but concentrate three quarters of active cases of the virus.
Precautions were also taken more locally.
A test will thus be required of all Hindu worshipers wanting to participate in the giant Kumbh Mela festival in the city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
India has finally stepped up its controls for international travelers arriving from the UK, the European Union and the Middle East.
