The Public Health Agency's order of priority simply means that the oldest and most fragile must be vaccinated first because they are at greater risk of suffering from severe covid-19.

Nevertheless, there have been reports of individuals and managers being vaccinated, even though they are not among those who will receive the syringe in the first vaccination phase.

In the Stockholm Region, care personnel have been given priority, and thus a smaller proportion of the elderly have been vaccinated there than in other regions.

Not paid

The question makes the Minister of Social Affairs raise a warning finger.

Namely, regions receive money for each vaccine dose on the premise that they also follow the Public Health Agency's priorities, according to an agreement between the government and Sweden's Municipalities and Regions (SKR).

- Basically, it can mean that you do not get paid for those doses, says Lena Hallengren about vaccinations that deviate from the order of priority.

Actors who vaccinate on behalf of the regions can also be punished if they deviate from the prioritization, which Emma Spak, head of the health and medical care section at SKR, clarified earlier this year.

It can be a breach of contract if you have an agreement with the region, she has told TT.

But so far, all regions are on dry land, according to Hallengren, despite some regions' creativity in terms of the vaccination scheme.

- It is not relevant that any region today loses compensation for the vaccinations that have been performed, she says.

70 percent

To date, 70 percent have been vaccinated with two doses in nursing homes, according to the latest figures from the Swedish Public Health Agency.

It is a good rating for the agreement between government and regions to work, according to Lena Hallengren.

- In general, my opinion is that it is followed very well.

That is why we have such a high coverage rate for our special accommodation.

But it does not, of course, dispel the outrage and irritation that is created when it is noticed that individuals go before the order of priority, she says.
