The government has decided to lift the state of emergency on the 28th for six prefectures except the metropolitan area.

The six prefectures will gradually ease infection control measures, and for the remaining 1 metropolitan area and 3 prefectures, the policy is to thoroughly implement measures so that the declaration can be canceled by the deadline of March 7.

Regarding the declaration of emergency, the government said at the response headquarters on the 26th, out of the 10 prefectures in the target area, 6 prefectures in Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Kansai, Aichi and Gifu, and Fukuoka prefecture. The prefecture has decided to move the deadline by March 7 ahead of schedule and cancel it in 28 days.

In light of the concerns of experts regarding the spread of the infection, the government will continue to gradually ease measures such as requesting shortening of business hours for restaurants in the six prefectures.

In addition, in the remaining 1 metropolitan area and 3 prefectures, the decrease in the number of newly infected people is slowing down, and the medical care provision system is still tight, so we can eat and drink so that the declaration can be canceled by the deadline of March 7. Our policy is to take thorough measures such as shortening store business hours and refraining from going out unnecessarily.

On the other hand, following the cancellation of the declaration in the six prefectures, Prime Minister Suga did not hold a press conference on the 26th, but responded to the press conference at the Prime Minister's Office.

In this, Prime Minister Suga asked the reporters, "Why didn't you hold the press conference? Is the influence of Cabinet Public Relations Secretary Yamada, who received a large amount of entertainment?" It doesn't matter. In fact, it is true that Mr. Yamada answered in the Diet. "

On top of that, "During the period of the declaration of 1 metropolitan area and 3 prefectures until the 7th of next month, it is extremely important to take thorough measures to prevent the spread of infection with a sense of tension. Therefore, regarding the timing of the press conference, I think that we should hold a proper press conference on the whole declaration after making a decision after assessing the situation until the end. Actually, we did not do it when we canceled the declaration in the Kansai area last year. It is also true that we are responding in this way. "
