Potsdam (dpa) - With an appeal, the Brandenburg State Football Association turned to Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke and called for an opening to amateur sport.

The lockdown should “not become a permanent condition” for football, according to the FLB's open letter on Friday.

The association expressly supports the decision of the Conference of Sports Ministers of the Länder to gradually re-enter organized sports.

"We are now looking forward to the next political decisions with great anticipation combined with the hope of at least allowing training to be resumed in a first step," said Chancellor Angela Merkel with the Prime Minister on Wednesday at the next Corona summit.

All games and training operations in Brandenburg have been suspended since the beginning of November 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

"Because of this forced break, sport in general and football in particular is now facing the greatest challenge in its history," wrote the FLB.

«With responsible and solidarity action, the associations ... have made their contribution to virus containment.

As early as the summer and autumn of 2020, good hygiene concepts showed how a resumption of training and match operations can be successful. "
