Darmstadt (dpa) - With the fifth away win in a row, Karlsruher SC has increased the pressure on the top quartet with the same points in the promotion battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Baden team prevailed 1-0 (0-0) at SV Darmstadt 98 on Friday evening and moved up to within three points of their rivals at least overnight.

Kyoung-Rok Choi scored the decisive goal for KSC in the 52nd minute.

Darmstadt is located as table 14.

with 25 points in the middle of the relegation battle.

After a balanced start, the Südhessen quickly took over the initiative.

Karlsruhe goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck stood in the way of a possible leadership of the home side.

First he saved a shot by Serdar Dursun (21st) from eleven meters with a foot defense, then after half an hour he blocked a free kick by Tobias Kempe.

Another Kempe free kick (42nd) also just hit the bar.

In the second half, KSC increased significantly and used their first chance to take the lead: Choi circled the ball from the right edge of the penalty area into the left corner.

The hit brought security to the guests.

The Darmstadters, however, did not find their way back to their line.
