Bremerhaven (dpa / bb) - The Eisbären Berlin have suffered the second defeat in a row in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Friday evening, the front runner in the northern group lost 3: 5 (1: 1, 0: 3, 2: 1) at second in the table, Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, which moved them up to five points on the capital city.

Goals from Zach Boychuk, Jonas Müller and Leonhard Pföderl weren't enough for the Eisbären because they had a weak phase in the second period.

In front of empty stands in the Bremerhaven ice arena, both teams started with great commitment and high speed.

Carson McMillan scored when the hosts played in the majority for the first time, Boychuk equalized a little later in the power play.

After the game had been even for a long time, the polar bears lost concentration in the middle of the second period: within a good three minutes, the Bremerhaven-based team moved away with goals from Jan Urbas, Maxime Fortunus and again McMillan.

Tobias Ancicka then replaced Mathias Niederberger in the goal of the guests, who came up again in the final section through hits from Müller and Pföderl.

But Niklas Andersen decided the game in favor of Bremerhaven shortly before the end when Ancicka left his box in favor of a sixth field player.
