- The investigation shows that the accused man used cocaine before driving, and that he maintained a speed of 203 kilometers per hour immediately before the collision, which is a very high speed, says assistant prosecutor Henrik Möller.

It was on 11 November 2019 that a man and a woman in their 70s died after the accused driver allegedly drove into their car from behind.

The couple's car came over in the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a truck.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Why has it taken until now before prosecution?

- It has been a complicated investigation, where an investigation is required of the properties of these drug-classified substances and there have been some other additions regarding damages and alarm calls, says Henrik Möller.

The man is charged with aggravated drunk driving, gross negligence in traffic and causing another person's death, aggravated crime.

He denies any wrongdoing, according to the prosecutor.

SVT Nyheter Halland is looking for the accused's lawyer.
