Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's hairdressers start on Monday after a ten-week forced break with well-filled appointment books.

"On average, the salons are fully booked for about two weeks," said state guild master Sybille Hain on Friday when asked in Erfurt.

The pre-bookings of customers were lower than after the lockdown in spring 2020. "At that time the appointment books of many salons were as good as full for four weeks."

Hain attributed this development to a high proportion of illegal work in the past few weeks.

"I look people on the head when they go shopping and am surprised how many seem to have their hair fresh," said Hain.

It is estimated that an average of two out of three customers had had their hair done illegally at least once in the past few weeks.

"That is really bad," said the guild master.

In her opinion, politicians have closed their eyes to this trend for too long.

Well-styled professional footballers would also have had a negative effect: "Why should citizens obey the rules if they don't apply to everyone."

The salons open on Monday with strict infection protection requirements.

The hairdressers had drawn attention to their economically precarious situation with vigils and protests in recent weeks.
