Ansbach / Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Only doctors are allowed to remove tattoos and permanent makeup with a laser after a court decision.

The operator of a studio from Nuremberg had sued the new regulation - without success.

The removal of tattoos by laser is a complex process, the Ansbach administrative court justified the rejection of the urgent application on Friday.

The studio operator was allowed to lend a hand until the end of last year, when the new regulation came into force.

For the studio operator, this amounts to a professional ban.

In fact, his occupational freedom is restricted, the administrative court has now ruled.

But that is "justified and especially proportionate".

Removal with a laser could lead to serious health problems, it said.

In addition, there is a risk of accidental skin changes being removed.

That could make the timely diagnosis of diseases more difficult.
