Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week has increased slightly despite the continued lockdown in Baden-Württemberg and is only just below the critical threshold of 50. The seven-day incidence was according to the state health office in Stuttgart on Friday (as of 4 p.m.) at 49.3.

The goal of the policy is to keep the number of new infections nationwide at least below 50 so that the health authorities are able to keep track of all contact persons.

Most recently, Baden-Württemberg still had the lowest value nationwide, despite slowly increasing numbers.

On Thursday, the 7-day incidence in the Southwest was 48.8, Wednesday 47.6, Tuesday 45.5, Monday 44.8.

For comparison: just over a month ago it was just under 90, and just before Christmas it was over 200.

Since the envisaged threshold of 35 for further easing is currently hardly attainable, the federal and state governments are now considering the circumstances under which the lockdown can be eased.

Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) had proposed a step-by-step opening of shops, restaurants and museums with the help of rapid tests before the next federal-state conference on Wednesday.

On Friday, the State Health Office reported that 18 of 44 urban and rural districts are above the limit of 50 reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days.

The Schwäbisch Hall district continues to have by far the highest seven-day incidence at 137.7.

The State Health Office reported 947 new corona infections, the number of all cases in the southwest since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 315,552. The number of people who died with or from Sars-CoV-2 rose by 17 to 8055. 294 are considered recovered 084 people.
