At 00.15, the police stopped a car driver in Borlänge on suspicion of drunk driving.
The driver refused to stop and a chase began and continued north.
- It went at speeds a bit above what is allowed, says the police officer on duty on Friday morning, Torbjörn Roos.
In Leksand, the driver managed to escape from the police, but after a while the car was found crashed.
The driver was not left in the car and the police began a search with dog patrols and regular police patrols.
- It takes time from the time we drop him when he turns towards Leksand until we find the car and until we finally find him, Roos says.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody and is now suspected of aggravated drunk driving, negligence in traffic and aggravated illegal driving.
