Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) - The BASF Group is planning its own vaccination center for its employees at the Ludwigshafen site.

“As soon as sufficient vaccine is available and the particularly vulnerable population groups are vaccinated, BASF will be able to vaccinate its own workforce as a priority,” said a company spokeswoman on Friday.

"In the further course we will also examine a vaccination offer for the members of the workforce."

The group is currently in talks with the authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The company already has experience with vaccinations.

“As part of its corporate health management, BASF has been offering annual flu vaccinations since 1990,” emphasized the spokeswoman.

In addition, there are around 10,000 other vaccinations every year, for example before traveling.

“In recent years, an average of around 3,000 employees at the Ludwigshafen site have been vaccinated against flu every year.

In 2020 there were even 10,000 employees due to Corona, "said the spokeswoman.

BASF boss Martin Brudermüller emphasized that the company first needs approval.

"We are clarifying this, but it is not that easy."

Many regulations are associated with the project.
