Health Canada has also approved an Indian Serum Institute version of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

"These vaccines are approved for use in accordance with the Interim Order of the Ministry of Health of Canada on the import, sale and advertising of drugs for use in connection with the coronavirus," - said in a press release.

The drugs are allowed for persons over 18 years old.

According to AstraZeneca, an interim analysis of clinical trials of the vaccine showed an average efficacy of 70%.

In Canada, vaccines from the American pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer and the German company BioNTech and the drug from the American company Moderna are also approved for use.
