This Tuesday, a 24-year-old young woman was hit by a car while she was jogging in the 118 air base in Mont-de-Marsan.

She died Thursday morning from her injuries.

The public prosecutor Olivier Janson announced this Friday at a press conference that the driver, a soldier, would be tried on April 25 for manslaughter.

Drunk at the time of the accident, he claims to have not seen the young woman running, reports France Bleu Gascogne.

He performed the first aid procedures and called the emergency services.

According to the prosecutor, the young woman, herself a soldier, was struck from behind.

The driver was previously convicted in 2013 of unintentional injuries while driving while intoxicated.

His license was withdrawn and he was placed under judicial supervision.
